Local youth compete in state track and field finals

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Belle­vue Recre­ation Department’s track and field team recently com­peted at the 2012 Hershey’s Ohio State Cham­pi­onships at Jesse Owens Memo­r­ial Sta­dium at The Ohio State Uni­ver­sity. Over 300 par­tic­i­pants from Ohio trav­eled to Colum­bus to com­pete in the state finals.

Belle­vue Recre­ation Depart­ment had 11 state final­ists. Team mem­bers recorded per­sonal best results, while six run­ners placed in their respec­tive events.

Alexan­der Rogers placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in the ages 1112 boys divi­sion. Keyara Schnei­der placed eighth in the 200 in the ages 910 girls division.

Chloe Brubaker placed sixth in the soft­ball throw, Mad­die Cur­tis placed eighth in the stand­ing long jump and Kait­lyn Fought placed sixth in the 400.

Kaeleigh Stang fin­ished first in stand­ing long jump and third in the 800 in the 1314 girls divi­sion. Her first-place fin­ish qual­i­fied her to par­tic­i­pate at the regional finals.

Other state final­ists for the Belle­vue Recre­ation Depart­ment included Aiden Hay­ward and Ryan Hilde­brandt (910 boys), Jack Howey (1112 boys), and Kaylin Howey and Halee Ohler (910 girls).
