Local youth compete in state track and field finals

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Bellevue Recreation Department’s track and field team recently competed at the 2012 Hershey’s Ohio State Championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium at The Ohio State University. Over 300 participants from Ohio traveled to Columbus to compete in the state finals.
Bellevue Recreation Department had 11 state finalists. Team members recorded personal best results, while six runners placed in their respective events.
Alexander Rogers placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in the ages 11–12 boys division. Keyara Schneider placed eighth in the 200 in the ages 9–10 girls division.
Chloe Brubaker placed sixth in the softball throw, Maddie Curtis placed eighth in the standing long jump and Kaitlyn Fought placed sixth in the 400.
Kaeleigh Stang finished first in standing long jump and third in the 800 in the 13–14 girls division. Her first-place finish qualified her to participate at the regional finals.
Other state finalists for the Bellevue Recreation Department included Aiden Hayward and Ryan Hildebrandt (9–10 boys), Jack Howey (11–12 boys), and Kaylin Howey and Halee Ohler (9–10 girls).
