Bellevue's Orshoski state co-coach of year

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Belle­vue Lady Red coach Ryan Orshoski earned the top honor in the state Mon­day by being named coach of the year for Divi­sion II, as the 201213 All-Ohio girls bas­ket­ball teams were released by the Asso­ci­ated Press.

Orshoski shared the award with Millers­burg West Holmes coach Lisa Pat­ter­son. On Fri­day he was the Divi­sion II Coach of the Year in the North­west District.

This sea­son Orshoski guided the Lady Red (204) to a third straight North­ern Ohio League cham­pi­onship, a third con­sec­u­tive sec­tional title and a third straight dis­trict appear­ance, with just one starter and three let­ter­win­ners return­ing from last season’s team.

Orshoski is the only coach in Belle­vue girls bas­ket­ball his­tory to win 20 or more games in mul­ti­ple seasons.

He will enter next sea­son need­ing eight wins to become the all-time leader in coach­ing wins in Lady Red history.
