BOWLING GREEN — The first day of wrestling action was completed Friday in a Division II Northwest District sectional tournament at Stroh Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University. Moyer, who entered the tournament with the second-most wins of any heavyweight, will wrestle St. Marys Memorial senior Logan Simons in his first match today. Simons won two matches Friday to move into the semifinals.
“It’s a very winnable match,” Bellevue coach Paul Zolman said about Moyer’s semifinal match. “(Moyer) has faced opponents similar to (Simons) in the past. Hopefully (Moyer) will work hard and come away with the win.”
At 160 pounds, Bellevue senior Joe Magyar was pinned in 39 seconds by Wauseon junior Aaron Schuette in the quarterfinals. In the consolation bracket, Magyar will await the winner of the match between Rossford sophomore Andy Myers and Shelby junior Nate Durkovic today, two wins away from clinching a district spot.
