Edwin Fox

SANDUSKY — Edwin Evon Fox, 65, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, July 22, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born on May 7, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1965. Ed attended Mansfield University College for Medical Lab Tech, then enlisted in the U.S. Army as an X-ray specialist.
Ed worked for several newspapers in California and Ohio as a sports writer. He spent many years with The Sandusky Register covering area high school sports and writing the sports column, Fox Trail, and retired as sports editor from The Bellevue Gazette after six years.
He was an active member of New Birth Church.
He is survived by his sons, Kevin Fox, Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeff Fox, Findlay, Ohio; granddaughter, Akira Butler; great-grandsons, Tywhon and Rai’jon Butler; sister, Pat, Fort Wayne, Ind.; his fiancée of 27 years, Betty Sue Johnson, Sandusky; step-children, Troy (Salina) Johnson, Adrian, Mich., Tunicia and Elayshia Johnson, both of Sandusky; step-grandchildren, Jervion Eppse, Troy Johnson Jr., Tevion Johnson, Talina Johnson, Tayla Johnson, Aaron Johnson; a special grandson and best friend, Zaige Giving; and other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Alice (Schulp) Fox.
Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at noon at Toft Funeral Home and Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Albert Porter will officiate. Burial will take place in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
