A large crowd participated in the Bellevue Quarter Craze held Saturday, March 3, in the Bellevue Community Center. With about 12 vendors on site, each donated articles for the Quarter Craze. Participants each paid $5 for one paddle, which allowed them to bid on articles, photo above, with additional paddles available for $1 each. When choosing to bid, they would raise a paddle and put their bid in the form of quarters in a cup collected by a volunteer staff member. A number corresponding to the winning paddle was drawn and the owner of the paddle would collect their prize. All proceeds from the entry fees were donated to the Recreation Department for a Youth Scholarship Fund. The quarters collected were split among the vendors to help with their expenses.
