“October”
(from a poem by Joseph Pullman Porter)
Crispy air and azure skies,
High above, a white cloud flies,
Bright as newly fallen snow
Oh the joy to those who know October!
I have to agree that there is nothing more beautiful than an October sky or sunset.
A few reminders:
1. Sign up for the Thanksgiving dinner sponsored by Home Savings continues. The meal will be held at the VFW on Nov. 7 at noon. I need your reservations by Nov. 2.
2. New library books are here for you to look over.
3. In case you have forgotten, we have people playing mahjong here on Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. If you have been wanting to learn the game, there are people who can help you at these sessions.
4. The Friday Lunch Bunch will be having vegetable soup, cheese and crackers, rolls and butter, plus dessert.
Our Christmas Shoe Box project looks like it will be successful once again this year. The boxes are wrapped and ready to fill in the next few days. Thanks a million to those who support me each year with your monetary donations and also with things to put in these boxes.
Teacher: “I just don’t understand how one person can make this many mistakes on her homework!”
Ellen: “It wasn’t one person. My dad helped me.”
Remember those days? Have a great week — J.
