Senior Citizens' Corner

Welcome to September

By JOANNE AUSTIN, director
Four County Young-At-Heart
Senior Center
Welcome to September. It’s a very busy month for most of us as we get back on schedule with family and activities. It’s a good thing that seniors are so up and at it. Otherwise, we could never keep up.
Here at the Center, we are getting ever closer to our anniversary celebration. Have you signed up yet? Remember that it is on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 14 p.m. and that final day to sign up is Sept. 10. Everything is free that day but you must have a reservation to attend.
The Board is looking for people to run for Trustee for 2013. If you are interested, contact the nominating committee (Bernie Rospert or Dave Herman) or call me and I will get word to them.
If you know someone who could use a regulation pool table or an organ that needs some work, call me for details.
The anniversary committee will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5. We still have a few things to finalize.
Put Sept. 8 on your calendar so that you won’t miss Saturday Night Cards this month.
Paycheck “Where’s my paycheck?” asked the clerk of the paymaster in the big plant. The cashier explained “Well, after deducting withholding tax, state income tax, city tax, Social Security, retirement fund, unemployment insurance, hospitalization, dental insurance, group life insurance and your donation to the company welfare fund, you owe us fourteen dollars and twenty-five cents.”
There are three kinds of people in this world: Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who don’t know what’s happening.
Take care — J.
P.S. Don’t forget we are closed Monday (Labor Day). There will be no home delivered meals.
