Story Time

A grouchy groundhog was tunneling through the children’s room at the Clyde Public Library. Preschoolers colored a groundhog shape, complete with a shadow to take home.

The books shared were: Substitute Groundhog by Pat Miller. Too sick to perform his once-a-year job, Groundhog interviews other animals to come out of his hole on Groundhog Day.

Double Trouble Groundhog Day by Bethany Roberts. When Grampie Groundhog decides to retire from forecasting the weather he has twins Greta and Gregory draw straws to see who will take over the important job, but the winner is so nervous the two put aside their squabbling and work together.

Ten Grouchy Groundhogs by Kathryn Heling. Ten groundhog friends eat, play and work in their crowded den until one by one they surface to see their shadow.

Our music leaders were Garrett Tipton and Paige Bradfield. The Clyde Public Library offers Story Time in two weekly sessions from September through May. Story Time sessions are on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and Thursday mornings from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Story Time is for children two and a half to seven years old, preschoolers two and a half to three and a half years old must be accompanied by an adult. Join us for stories, fingerplays and crafts. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with us on Feb. 12 and 14 for the program Heart to Heart.
